Multilingual SEO in Luxembourg

Your customers search in three languages.
Every version has to answer.

AIxH, an SEO agency in Luxembourg, supports the search engine optimisation of websites published in several languages within its SEO service: choice of the languages and pages to work on first, adaptation of content to what each audience searches for, organisation of the versions (URLs, hreflang annotations, links between versions) and tracking per language and per country in Search Console. Luxembourg searches in French, English and German; the Greater Region adds habits of its own. Search engine optimisation of multilingual sites has been part of our trade since the late 1990s, on many sites in Luxembourg, the Greater Region and internationally.

Your site exists in several languages, but some versions receive few visits. Or you are preparing a new version without knowing which pages to translate first. In both cases the question is the same: which pages, in which language, for which audience, and how to check it afterwards.

Multilingual SEO starts from your offers, the people you address and the pages already available. It helps you choose the content to work on, adapt it to what each audience searches for and organise its presence in search results, version by version.

Our method relies on AI-assisted production, reviewed by a human before anything goes live. For MONDORF Domaine Thermal, an AI agent produced more than 6,000 ALT texts in three languages, each one validated before publication. Our own site follows the same rules: aixh.com is published in French and in English, page for page, with the hreflang annotations and the structured data we recommend to our clients.

Multilingual SEO is a specialisation of our SEO service, which covers the technical audit, content, internal linking and measurement tied to your conversions.

Starting point

Which languages and which pages should you work on first?

The language used inside your company is not enough to decide which languages your site needs. Your prospects may look for a provider in one language, read documentation in another and talk to your team in a third.

Start from the people who buy your services

Who do you want to reach, on which market and for which offer? The enquiries you receive, your sales conversations and the searches that already bring visitors to your site give the first indications.

A company serving a French-speaking clientele does not have the same needs as a provider approached by international teams. The number of languages has to remain compatible with your capacity to answer enquiries and keep the content up to date.

Choose a first set of pages

A new version can start with the pages needed for the decision: the services concerned, their conditions, useful references and the contact page. Translating the rest of the site is decided afterwards, depending on how useful the content is for that audience.

Example: you want to develop a single service among English-speaking companies. An English version of that offer, together with the information that lets people assess and contact you, forms a first scope. Translating several years of news is a separate decision, to be examined on its own.

This choice also avoids maintaining pages whose offer has changed or which do not concern the target market.

Scope

What does multilingual SEO support cover?

01

Keyword research per language

The vocabulary of a service varies with languages and professional habits. A correct translation may use a term nobody types into Google. We examine the wording actually used in each language and the need it expresses: an explanation, a comparison, references or the terms of an engagement. This analysis guides the title, the questions covered and the structure of each page.

02

Content adaptation and validation

Adapting a page may mean changing an example, explaining a local practice or specifying the area in which a service is available. References and contact details must remain understandable for the audience concerned. Production is AI-assisted; validation covers the meaning, the facts and the consistency with your offer, and it is entrusted to reviewers identified during scoping, on the AIxH side and on the company side. Your teams bring the knowledge of the products, the customers and the in-house vocabulary.

03

Organisation of the versions

Every version needs an accessible address and must be reachable from the site, with a language switch that leads to the matching page. We examine the URL structure, the links between pages and the hreflang annotations, which tell search engines about the language or regional versions of a page. We also spot the frequent inconsistencies: a translated page with few internal links, a canonical pointing to another language, a forgotten noindex, an old version still online although the service has changed.

04

Tracking per language and per country

Tracking separates pages and markets, so that overall progress does not hide a version with little visibility. Search Console gives the queries, impressions and clicks; traffic data and the enquiries received complete the picture. A French page can be read from several countries: the country of the search and the language of the content are examined separately, and every result is set against the changes made.

The four workstreams are not always run together: an error that blocks access to a version calls for a different answer than a text to revise or a new page to prepare.

Method

How does the engagement work?

Diagnosis

Review what exists and set priorities

The work starts from your objectives, the available versions and the data you have access to. We look at how your offers are represented in each language, which pages are visible and where the main difficulties lie. Actions are then ordered by usefulness and dependencies.

Production

Prepare the content and the fixes

The scope specifies the pages to keep, adapt or create, and how writing, validation and integration are shared. AIxH carries out the fixes that concern tags, structured data and content when access to the site allows it; code changes are specified for your developer or web agency, then checked after going live.

Over time

Keep the versions alive

A new version commits your company for the long run: commercial information, references and contact details will have to follow the changes in your business, in every language. Monthly tracking flags the gaps between versions and the pages that slip, so you can decide what to revisit.

What multilingual experience stands behind this method?

Track record · since 1999

Many multilingual sites before AIxH

Grégory Camus has worked in search engine optimisation without interruption for 27 years, Xavier Lesueur in digital for 25 years. Long before the agency was founded in 2023, we worked on the SEO of many multilingual sites, for companies in Luxembourg, the Greater Region and abroad.

The team's campaigns now cover more than 20 countries and around twenty languages: choosing the languages, markets and pages to work on first is a decision we take every week.

Nearly 40 years of combined experience of a market that searches in three languages.

Client case · Wellness · Luxembourg

MONDORF Domaine Thermal

More than 700 images without an ALT attribute were hurting the accessibility and the search rankings of a site published in three languages.

An AI agent generated more than 6,000 ALT texts in the three languages, each one validated by a human before going live, with consistency maintained with the brand identity.

+55% SEO traffic from Google Images. The project concerns image search; on its own it does not sum up the site's SEO.

Laboratory · aixh.com

Our own site, in French and in English

aixh.com is published in both languages, page for page: cross hreflang annotations, translated structured data, a news feed maintained in both versions and separate tracking per language and per country in Search Console.

Every rule on this page is applied here first.

Scoping

How to prepare your first conversation?

A first conversation is enough to frame the diagnosis. It goes faster if you come with:

  1. The site: its address, the languages available and, if possible, read access to Search Console.
  2. The audiences: the markets and languages you want to reach better, and the offer to put forward for each.
  3. The history: the versions created, those abandoned, the translations still pending.
  4. The reviewers: the people able to validate the content in each language, on your side.

Before the start, we settle together who writes, who validates and who integrates. The quote is drawn up after the diagnosis. For wider support, our SEO service covers the whole of your site's search engine optimisation.

FAQ

Your questions about multilingual SEO

Do all the pages of the site need to be translated?

No. The scope depends on the offers and the audiences you target. Some pages are needed to understand your business and get in touch: the services concerned, their conditions, useful references and the contact form. Others are specific to one country or of little interest to a new audience. We define a first coherent set, then extend it according to the results observed.

Can a site that already exists in several languages be improved?

Yes, and it is the most frequent case. The diagnosis then covers the available versions, their content, their links and their visibility in Search Console. It separates the necessary fixes (page not indexed, canonical pointing to another language, orphan version) from the pages to enrich. Adding another language is not a prerequisite.

Is a translation enough for SEO?

It makes the content understandable in another language. The SEO work also examines the searches the page answers, the information that audience expects and the access to the page from the rest of the site. Depending on the existing content, the adaptation can be light or require a more substantial revision of the title, the examples and the proof.

Who validates the content in each language?

The reviewers are identified during the scoping phase, before the first production. Validation covers the language, the information about your offer and the specifics of the target market. For MONDORF Domaine Thermal, every ALT text produced by the AI agent in three languages was validated by a human before going live; we apply the same principle to pages.

What budget should I plan for a multilingual SEO project?

The quote depends on the number of pages and languages, the technical state of the site and the writing or correction work required. How tasks are shared with your team also counts. Our guide SEO agency fees in Luxembourg: quotes and grants explains the factors that make up a quote and the public grants available.
