On 31 August 2026, the FTC and 22 state attorneys general filed a complaint against Amazon, accusing it of quietly turning its “second-price” advertising auction into a first-price auction through an undisclosed internal reserve price that allegedly inflated the prices paid by advertisers since 2019 (official press release). More than a million advertisers buy this space without being able to check for themselves how their bid turns into an invoice.

On 25 August 2026, OpenAI opened the browser built into the ChatGPT desktop app to WebMCP (official documentation), a protocol that lets a website itself expose the actions an agent may carry out on it. For any company that sells, takes bookings or handles requests online, being cited in an AI answer is no longer enough: the site also needs to be actionable directly from that answer.

Since 2 August, Article 50 of the AI Act has required certain AI-generated content to be flagged, on pain of a fine of up to €15 million or 3% of worldwide turnover. The obligation also applies to SMEs that publish a chatbot, a newsletter or a visual produced by AI, and goes well beyond the large model providers.
