On 21 August 2026, LinkedIn published the first figures on its “Seems like AI slop” button: more than one million reports since its launch on 30 July, and 40% fewer views for content the platform classifies as “slop”, generic posts produced with little effort (announcement by its Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan). For brands and executives active on the platform, the question has moved on from whether AI can be spotted to which writing habits trigger the penalty, because the available data show that the structure of the text is what gets flagged, whatever tool produced the first draft.

81% of the 343 American marketing decision-makers surveyed by Fractl still refer to their AI visibility strategy as “SEO”, despite the spread of the acronyms GEO, AEO and LLMO across the industry (survey relayed on 24 August 2026 by Search Engine Land). Since 20 August 2026, any publisher can embed a “Preferred Source” button on its pages that adds the site to a reader's preferred sources on Google, in one click and without interrupting reading (official announcement). More than 600,000 unique sources have already been chosen by users, up from more than 345,000 at the end of May.

A company based in Luxembourg does not address an audience confined to the national territory: in the first quarter of 2026, the country's 232,919 cross-border workers accounted for 47% of salaried employment (STATEC), and 46.6% of its 690,959 residents are foreign nationals, with around 180 nationalities represented (STATEC). This wider audience determines the choice of platforms and publishing languages before the choice of formats even comes up.

ChatGPT advertising is coming to Luxembourg: OpenAI opens its ad platform in 31 European countries on 24 August 2026 (official announcement of 18 August), six months after the start of the US tests; the announcement names nine markets, and AFP coverage specifies that Benelux, and therefore Luxembourg, is included. At the same time, SE Ranking published the first large-scale study of what six months of US campaigns have produced, and its figures set expectations: an ad on one commercial query in four, with targeting that is still approximate.
